Design

I was never very good at art in school. I got an “F” in coloring in kindergarten. Okay, not really, but I can’t draw a decent picture to save my life. That being said, I’ve picked up alot of tricks for web design over the years, and have an eye for layout.

Listed here are links to many layouts I’ve done for others, for myself, and just for the heck of it. All links open in new window.

  • Lucid Groupware
  • This one was made for one of my projects. It turned out great considering I started with just the green glass bar in photoshop. I winged this, using a little bit of suckerfish menu’s. Not bad for a quick job.

  • Never Luke Band
  • One of my most recent works, this redesign of NeverLuke.com was aimed at a simple, clean interface that expressed the equivalent simple guitar driven rock of Never Luke. As of 2/5/07 I’m working on moving the site over to a WordPress install.

  • Old VelvetCache.org
  • This was the original VelvetCache.org and was really the re-birth of myself as a web coder. I hadn’t done any in years, then made this in a few long sessions. It’s a tabled monstrosity, and I missed the obvious problem of the background lining up with the rest of the layout, but overall not a bad layout, quite snazzy.

  • Another VelvetCache.org
  • This version of VelvetCache.org was going to be the way slicker, semantic, web standards compliant, CSS based, table-free redesign. I got sick of the colors waaay to fast.

  • Fixed Frame
  • A simple adaptation of a fixed frame layout, CSS based, no iframes. Uses a neat image I made from a star wars comic book scan. I’d like to finish it and add rounded corners, but I don’t really have a place to use it.

  • Myspace Page
  • In a weak moment, I signed up for that table infested coldfusion disaster called myspace. I had planned out a nice, slick version to try and remake it in my preferred image. Thanks to myspace’s design and my limited attention it didn’t quite go as planned, but it’s not that bad looking, very blue.

  • A Whispered No
  • This was one of my early experiments in CSS. It’s not terrible pretty, but I learned a bit about positioning and little CSS hacks to get things done.
